A ponytail can be styled in a variety of ways: high, messy, bumped up, retro, braided, low, sleek or inverted. One of the most famous among these styles is the inverted or inside out ponytail. It is perfect for an everyday look at the office, during a special occasion or when you go on a date. This hairdo may look quite difficult but believe me, anyone can achieve the style in under a minute without a hassle. Follow these simple steps to create the perfect inverted ponytail.

  1. Detangle your tresses
In every hairdo or hairstyle you make, the initial step is always to comb or brush your strands to remove any tangles and knots. You will get more satisfying and better results when you detangle.
  2. Make a low ponytail
The second step to creating an inverted pony is to gather your tresses first into a low ponytail right at the nape of your neck. Tie it with a regular elastic band but make sure to tie it loosely.
  3. Divide hair at the center right above the elastic band
Using your fingers, create a hole in the middle just right on top of the elastic band. Make sure to keep it as close as possible to the band. If you have short locks, be careful not to separate or divide your hair too much otherwise, the hair tie might fall off.
  4. Insert the ponytail through the hole
Keep your hair separated using one hand while you use the other hand to insert the end of your ponytail into the hole you created. Pull and tuck it down through the hole and tighten the band afterwards. You can adjust it in anyway you want to.
  5. Accessorize
To completely finish the look and make it more stylish, you may add a barrette or a ribbon. But you can wear it as it is, it depends upon your taste.
