Honestly, I really wasn’t sure how to begin this blog and I wasn’t even sure how to put my thoughts into words. But for what it’s worth, I want you ladies to hear How Hair Extensions Became My Saving Grace. I know usually, you get tips on how to care for hair extensions, or how to choose the right hair extensions for your hair and all that. But, have you heard about a personal story on how hair extensions changed someone’s life? Or at least their confidence? Well, you’re lucky! I am taking the leap and I’m going to share with you my own, true to life story.

For the record, this is an unbiased testimonial on how hair extensions changed me, but most of all, my confidence. And for everyone’s benefit, yes, I am directly connected with HHEO Hair Extensions and I am proud that I am part of this company. Everything that you are about to read in this blog is based on facts and is deeply personal. But like I said, for what it’s worth, I know someone out there needs to read this.

My name is Shan and I am from Asian descent. As you all know, Asian’s are blessed with ridiculously straight and fine hair. Yeah! I know a lot of you want that natural rebond-like hair, I get it. But straight, fine hair looks dull, let’s just admit that. However, 11 years ago, after giving birth to my son, I was diagnosed with overlap auto-immune illnesses called Systemic Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. At first, the effects of all my medications really did not bother me. I was just focused on getting better and being able to manage my condition since my diagnosis is currently irremediable. I’ve been on high dose NSAIDs, Antimalarial drugs, Immunosuppressive and chemotherapy drugs. I’ve had the highs and lows of being on multiple medications and yet, I was alright with it because I just wanted to be better. To feel okay.

All these years, I have been a religious prescribed drug user. I make sure that I don’t miss out on medications to help keep my flares at bay. Little did I know, the hair that most of my friends envy about is slowly fading away. Every day, I wake up to terrible hair fall. Hair strands on my pillows, my sheets, my bedroom and bathroom floor. It feels like I’ve been shedding worse than cats. My hair strands were practically, everywhere. My scalp is now visible and I kinda freak out each time I have to section my hair because my scalp is literally waving hello at me.

There’s no shame in admitting that for a time, I felt less about myself. I avoided meeting people, I, even despised taking photos of myself or joining a group, and just wanted to hide because I felt weird about how I looked and totally self-conscious.

Then one day, I was given the chance to be a part of this amazing family, HHEO Hair Extensions. Of course, at first, I was just like any ordinary newcomer, trying to get to know our products like the tape-in extensions, clips and ponytails, and services more. Simply,  getting acclimated to the values and goals of the company. Eventually, I realized that hair extensions like clip-ins might just be what I needed for my thinning hair. However, since our products are made of real 100% Remy human hair, boy they sure do not come cheap like synthetic extensions. These are absolute investments that are guaranteed worth every penny. And well, I didn’t really have that money to afford myself a set. I mean, come on, converting the AUD value to my local currency? A 10 piece set of 16” clip-ins are as good as a 10-day salary of a minimum wage earner in my country. People would call it as wants and not needs. In short, unnecessary spending.

Clip In 20” 5 Piece Set in #2 Dark Brown

The business owner, Chris, decided to send me a set of clip-in hair extensions! At first, I thought I was just getting a sample like a few wefts for me to have an idea about how our products look and feel in person. (Well, this is actually why I know a lot about our products now, so thanks to Chris!). However, aside from the intention of giving me that first-hand experience about how amazing HHEO hair extensions Sydney brand is, he wanted me to wear the set and do whatever I pleased with it like cut it, style it and whatever to put the product to test and make it match my style. Chris sent me the perfect hair colour to match my natural hair which is a #2 Dark Brown in our colour chart. And boy, it did blend flawlessly with my hair!

Apart from the flawless blend due to Chris’ excellent colour matching skill, the hair extensions are definitely made of meticulously handpicked, human hair! The moment I put on the clip-ins, I was insanely in love with it! My hair looked fuller, and no one can even tell that I am trying to conceal a serious medication side effect. Well, it’s now a secret no more.

Clip-ins are insanely easy and quick to use too! With the amount of hair I have, it only takes 5 minutes to 10 minutes for me to do the whole thing. Absolutely amazing! Now, I am more confident to hit the road and meet friends for dinner, or even meet colleagues via zoom for business meetings. I even did a local news interview, and boy I’d say I was camera-ready with my hair extensions on.

Lastly, hair extensions made me feel good about myself with or without it. How come? See, during those times that I do not put my hair extensions on, people always compliment me not for my hair, but for my overall being. I was reminded that not all people around you are superficial. Most of the time, it’s all in our minds. We worry too much about what other people have to say about us, without realizing that you will always be amazing in the eyes of those who truly love and care for you. You will always be appreciated regardless of your hair volume, babe!

Now, to those of you who may have gone through aggressive medical treatments like me or ladies who have experienced hair loss due to many factors like childbirth, stress, prolonged usage of chemicals found in hair care products, know that there are millions of women out there who battle self-consciousness and insecurity. Thinning and losing hair is no joke and something that we cannot get over with overnight. I know it’s easier said than done, but keep your chin up, high babe. Remember, beauty is not in our face, nor our hair. It’s a light in our hearts. It illuminates our souls.
